Welcome to The Red Lion
After six years, Sue and Bob Devey-Robson have returned to The Red Lion, a delightful, award-winning 16th century half timbered, thatched inn in the heart of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, one of Oxfordshire’s most beautiful villages.
During Sue and Bob’s last tenure, The Red Lion was voted ‘South Oxfordshire’s Pub of the Year’ in 2009 and 2012 and featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for four consecutive years. Who knows what could happen in 2020!
A cozy traditional beamed pub and restaurant with a pretty courtyard garden, The Red Lion promises a warm welcome, well-kept locally brewed ales, interesting wines, and a regularly changing menu of freshly sourced local ingredients.
The Red Lion offers a friendly, relaxed environment to enjoy a drink with friends. Warm and cozy in the winter with our roaring log burner, or cool and light in the summer. We pride ourselves in the wide variety of locally brewed real ales we have on tap and the quality wines available by the glass and bottle. We also offer a wide selection of Continental lagers, ciders, spirits, soft drinks and not forgetting our beautifully kept Guinness. Or why not pop in and try one of our many coffees; from Cappuccinos to Americanos, Lattes and Espressos.
Dining out is one of life’s little pleasures, and at the Red Lion we do everything we can to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your visit. From the food on your plate, to the locally grown fresh flowers on your table, we take care over every little detail.
We tend to celebrate most events with a special menu, e. g. St George’s Day, Burns Night, St. Patricks Night. We also have Speciality Gourmet Nights, Pie Nights etc. regularly. To find out when they are, check the web site or sign up to our newsletter by sending us your e mail address.
